Dear Guest,
Our studio
continues to garner recognition as the area's premier location for
Pilates and Yoga. On the heels of October's article in the Courier News
focusing on Prenatal Yoga at our studio, we were featured once more
in the paper's "On The Run" section. Following the
link to the article
will take you to the fitness correspondent's insightful look at what
Pilates is, and how it can be of benefit for most people.
Also, with
the holidays approaching fast, we thought we'd offer some helpful
tips on how to make holiday shopping slightly less stressful on your body
and mind.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING:
Our tips for
minimizing the
shopping-related stress on your body
|
As the
holidays approach, there is a lot of pressure to find the right gift for
everyone on the gift list. As such, every year women trudge out to the mall in
search of that perfect something. And every year people come to our studio with
achy feet, tired backs, stiff shoulders and sore necks.
So this year I thought
I would offer a few tips on how one can avoid some of these "shopping-related
injuries:"
1.
Empty out the purse - One way or another all sorts of stuff just seems to
accumulate there. After you're done cleaning the purse, you might be a few
dollars richer and are bound to be amazed at how light it actually is.
2.
Shop in comfortable shoes - If you are going
to be on your feet for a long time fashion may just have to be sacrificed for
comfort. It's O K!
3.
Take breaks - No matter how many gifts you have to buy,
remember to take a some time for yourself and have a "Starbucks moment." Sit
down and relax even if just for a few minutes. Nothing like a warm cup of coffee
or tea to bring back some sanity.
4.
Distribute the weight evenly - Make sure that the packages are evenly
balanced on both sides of the body. Carrying too many packages on one side may
throw your alignment out of whack and cause muscle tension, pain and headaches.
5. Clean hands frequently - This is the
prime season for respiratory infections - avoid them with a liberal use of hand
sanitizer.
6. Shop Online - If you decide to skip the
mall, avoid the crowds and find
every gift online, make sure you leave the
computer some time to let your shoulders, neck and wrists get some rest.

7. Buy Gift Certificates - If the person on your list already has everything, get them "an experience." Whether it's a
golf lesson from a
pro or a
relaxing
massage at our studio, a
thoughtfully chosen
gift certificate can be the perfect solution.
However you do your shopping this year, remember to
stop by the studio
often to recharge your body
through Pilates and Yoga.

IN THE NEWS:
The spotlight shines again
on our studio

The story
written by
Angela Billings
in The Courier News' "On The Run" section presented one fitness
expert's experience at our studio. Although initially skeptical of the benefits
of the Pilates technique, Angela did change her mind following a private session
with Deborah. Click on the picture above or this
link to read through the
full article and see if Pilates might be a nice addition to your current workout routine.
If you are going to do Pilates,
you may as well do it at the area's only fully-equipped Pilates studio, with instructors
dedicated to designing a program custom-tailored to your personal needs
and goals. |

CLASSES COME &
CLASSES GO - Schedule
changes for December
Anticipating
the stress of the holiday season we are introducing a new "Relaxing Yoga and
Meditation Class" taught by Kristen Oels. This class will meet Wednesdays
5-6PM. Stop by, relax, breathe!
Friday night Vinyasa Yoga class at 6:30PM is no more.
A fully updated scheduled is attached to this email and available for download
here.
We are considering offering a belly-dancing workshop and would like to solicit
your feedback. Please
e-mail me if you might be interested. |
INCLEMENT WEATHER
As we head into the winter months there
are bound to be days when the weather turns so bad that it might be unsafe for
you or for our instructors to travel to the studio.
Simply call the studio at
(908) 754 5901 and listen to the recorded message. Studio closings
will be recorded on the machine by 7AM. You will not be responsible for a
scheduled Tower/Private session if the studio is closed that day. At the same
time, if there is
only a light drizzle or a snow dusting outside and the studio
is open, we do hope you will be able to make it. |

MAT
& TOWER COMBO PACKAGE:
An exciting new option at our studio!
Some
of our yoga clients have expressed an interest in Pilates Tower but have been
hesitant about taking the plunge. So we've made it even easier for them to give
our Tower classes a try. Our new 10 Class Mat/Tower Combo Package offers
5 Mat classes and 5 Tower classes for only $200. The same rules apply and
the class card is still good for three months. This card offers all our clients
another option for changing up their exercise routine in the coming year.
Because our Tower classes are physically challenging and rely on some basic
Pilates knowledge, we do require that someone who has never taken a Pilates
class at our studio, take at least 5 Pilates Mat classes or 3 Private sessions
before participating in the Tower class. All private Pilates sessions are
paid for separately. So, if you still haven't experienced the Pilates Tower
Class come in give it a try! |
