Dear Visitor,
This is the newsletter
our clients received at the beginning of October.
Enjoy!
We are excited to report that our studio is starting to gain area recognition.
Recently, we were featured in the Courier News' On The Run section. Photographs of
our studio and of our lovely pregnant Yoginis even made their way onto the paper's
front page.

Over the past few months we have gotten a lot of requests to start
offering Prenatal Yoga. People are starting to hear from their obstetricians
regarding the benefits of this activity for soon-to-be-moms.
Prenatal yoga is one way that women are bringing body,
mind, and spirit together as they prepare to introduce another life into this
world.
Prenatal yoga takes a pregnant woman gently through preparation for childbirth with the assumption that labor is the most important marathon she will ever do. We work on breathing for optimal relaxation and awareness, strengthening the legs in preparation for labor, strengthening the arms in preparation for for nursing and carrying the baby
around, and working on flexibility and vitality in the pelvic floor
to ease the birthing process.
We are starting to register women now for the
Prenatal Yoga Seminar set to begin at the end of October or beginning of
November. We are going to limit the class to only 10 people, so if you know
someone who is pregnant perhaps you could forward this newsletter to them or send
them our way. We'd love to talk to them about the specific benefits of Prenatal
Yoga! |

Courier News recently devoted a whole section
of the paper to prenatal Yoga. Not only were we interviewed for the story, but
our studio was extensively photographed and featured on the front page of the
section. Many thanks to Gillian and our pregnant Yoginis who volunteered for the
shoot.

FOCUS ON THE
INSTRUCTOR
Cheryl Muradas
I
first took an interest in yoga back in the mid 1970’s when I discovered a book
on yoga at my grandmother’s house. The book belonged to my Uncle Jimmy, an 8th
degree black belt in karate. I was 16 at the time. Being in a severe car
accident during my junior year in high school, with damaged discs and a severely
injured left leg, my uncle suggested I take a couple of karate classes at his
school, as that would serve as physical therapy. Many of the warm-ups consisted
of stretches, which were similar to many of the postures now being taught. I
felt so wonderful during the warm up and cool downs, which were the stretches,
that I quickly fell in love with and practiced them up until the end of the last
year of high school.
With so many things happening in my life, I shortly thereafter abandoned yoga
and all exercise. Many years later, after having two beautiful daughters,
Heather and Rachel, my injured L-4 and L-5 disc problems reappeared leaving me
almost crippled, and unable to move comfortably. I turned to yoga as an
alternative, and thus began my journey of healing, both physically and
spiritually."

DYNAMIC FLOW YOGA
A New Yoga Class
Starting
October 11th, Cheryl will be teaching a new class at our studio:
Dynamic
Flow Yoga
Tuesdays 7:30-8:45PM
Dynamic Flow
yoga is an athletic, rigorous style of yoga, done at a fast pace, geared toward
promoting cardiovascular health, muscular endurance, and overall strength and
flexibility. Concentration on breathing is emphasized during the entire flow.
Some abdominal work is done, as well as a mixture of standing, seated,
reclining, and inverted postures, which are connected to the Sun Salutation. A
short segment of breathing exercises is performed after final relaxation. This
Vinyasa is guaranteed to burn calories, tone and elongate the body, and refresh
the senses.
